Mr. Sweet and I have started a new tradition on Saturday mornings....going out for breakfast at the Village Bakery. We like to get there early with a copy of the paper. It is warm and quiet in the bakery, and we enjoy reading the paper and taking in the smells of freshly baked pastries and brewed coffee. Here are a couple of pics of what we ate last weekend...Mr. Sweet chose the Cherry Danish which was wonderfully flaky and the cherry filling tastes like a cherry pie.
My choice was the cinnamon roll...It is fabulous. You can really taste the yeast in the dough and the frosting is a thick cream cheese frosting that is generously spread on the roll. It is also, not too overly cinnamony, which is important. The only thing I would change would be to add more pecans, but even that can be overlooked because of the great overall flavor of the roll.
